Due to poor weather and driving conditions, one of our own was tragically taken from us in an auto-accident outside of Truckee last weekend. #18 Greg “Steed” Jacobs, a 4th year student, was the starting middle for UC Davis. In the past couple of years, he led the Aggies to top finishes in both the regional and national level. Last season, he won honors as an All-American when he took his team to a fifth place finish at the NIRSA Championships. Not only was he a top competitor and a great athlete, he was well-loved and an inspiration to his club and those who knew him. This loss will be felt outside the Davis community as his presence will be missed by all. During this difficult time, our hearts and prayers go out to the Jacobs family, his girlfriend, friends and teammates. Plans for a memorial service at UC Davis are under way and information will be posted on the UC Davis Men’s Volleyball website as they become available.
